A metronome. That keeps time. Free, in your browser.

BPM
How it works
01
Set the tempo
Drag the slider, use − and +, or tap the tempo in. Anything from 20 to 300 BPM.
02
Choose the meter
Two to seven beats in a bar, with an accent on the downbeat so you always know where one is.
03
Play
Clicks are scheduled on the audio clock, so they stay exactly in time even when the tab is in the background.
Questions
- Is this metronome accurate?
- Yes. Each click is scheduled ahead on the Web Audio clock, which is sample-accurate, rather than fired by a JavaScript timer that drifts and stalls.
- How do I practise with it?
- Start slow enough to play cleanly, then raise the tempo a few BPM at a time. Setting the meter to the piece's time signature keeps your place in the bar.
- What tempo is a song?
- Use the Tap BPM Counter to tap one out, or the Key, BPM & Chord Finder to read it from a file.
- Is it free?
- Yes, with no sign-up and no ads.
