Free tool
Reverse audio. Any song, sample or voice clip, backwards. Free, in your browser.
Files over 20:00 are trimmed to the first 20 minutes.
How it works
01
Choose a file
A WAV, MP3, M4A or FLAC up to twenty minutes: a vocal, a cymbal, a whole song.
02
Reverse it
Every channel is read from the last sample to the first, so stereo stays where it was.
03
Download
Play the backwards version next to the original and save it as a WAV. Nothing leaves your device.
Questions
- What is reversed audio used for?
- Reverse cymbals and reverb tails make swells into a drop, reversed vocals make eerie textures, and backwards guitar is a classic psychedelic sound. It is also the way to check a song for so-called backmasked messages.
- How do I make a reverse reverb swell?
- Reverse a sound, add a long reverb, then reverse the result again: the reverb now builds up into the note. The SoundGen studio can do all three steps on a clip.
- Does it change the pitch or speed?
- No. Only the direction changes; length, pitch and sample rate stay as they were. Use the free Pitch Shifter or Tempo Changer for those.
- Is it free, and is my audio uploaded?
- Free, with no sign-up. The file is processed inside your browser and never leaves your device.
