Free tool

Change the tempo. Faster or slower, or to an exact BPM, and the pitch stays put.

Files over 10:00 are trimmed to the first 10 minutes. To change the key, use the Pitch Shifter.

How it works

01

Choose a song

Any WAV, MP3, M4A or FLAC up to ten minutes. The tool reads its tempo as soon as it loads.

02

Set the new tempo

Pick a speed from half to double, or type the BPM you want: 128 BPM to mix into a DJ set, 80% to learn a solo.

03

Download

Compare with the original and save a WAV. It runs on your device with Signalsmith Stretch, the time-stretch engine in the SoundGen studio.

Questions

Does changing the speed change the pitch?
Not here. The audio is time-stretched, so a song slowed to 75% plays in the same key. To change the key instead, or both at once, use the free Pitch Shifter.
How do I change a song to an exact BPM?
Choose Set BPM, check the detected original tempo (it can read half or double on some songs; tap it with the free BPM counter if unsure), and type the target. The speed is the ratio of the two.
How far can I stretch before it sounds bad?
Within about 80–125% most music sounds natural. Slower than that, sharp drum hits soften; faster, vocals can sound phasey. Half and double speed work but are audible.
Is it free, and is my audio uploaded?
Free, with no sign-up. The file is processed inside your browser and never leaves your device.

New tempo.
Now make it yours.

The SoundGen studio warps clips to the project tempo automatically and generates drums, bass and chords that lock to it.
