Free tool
Cut the part you want. Trim a song or recording, fade the ends, save it as MP3 or WAV. Free, in your browser.
How it works
01
Choose a file
Any WAV, MP3, M4A, FLAC or OGG your browser can play: a song, a voice memo, a podcast, a sample. It is opened on your device and never uploaded.
02
Mark the part
Drag the start and end over the waveform, or type the times to the hundredth of a second. Add a fade in or out so it doesn't start or stop with a click, and play the selection to check it.
03
Download
Save the cut as an MP3 (192 kbps) or a WAV (16-bit, lossless and cut to the exact sample).
Questions
- How do I make a ringtone from a song?
- Select the part you want, add a short fade in and out, and download it as an MP3. On Android, copy the MP3 into the phone's Ringtones folder or use Files by Google's Set as ringtone. On iPhone, ringtones are made in Apple's GarageBand, which takes up to 30 seconds; trimming here first means you only import the part you want.
- Is my audio uploaded anywhere?
- No. The file is decoded, trimmed and encoded inside your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and there is no sign-up.
- Does cutting an MP3 lose quality?
- Saving as WAV keeps the cut exactly as decoded. Saving as MP3 encodes it again, at 192 kbps, which is hard to tell apart from the original for most listening, but every re-encode loses a little. Keep the WAV if you'll edit it further.
- How precise is the cut?
- To the sample. The times you type are rounded to the nearest sample of the file, and the arrow keys move an edge by a tenth of a second (a full second with Shift).
- Is there a length limit?
- Files up to 100 MB. A long file has to be fully decoded in memory first, so an hour-long WAV can be too much for a phone; if it fails, try a compressed copy or a shorter file.
